I see journalism as a practice driven by a combination of my own curiosities and needs, and those of the people around me. Every story takes a different form: sometimes film, sometimes radio, sometimes writing, sometimes live performance, sometimes conversation, and sometimes something completely new and unexpected. The stories I care most about deal with religion, media or people who very passionate about very specific things.
Currently, I’m teaching, producing and doing research in New York City. I’m Community Editor at News Deeply, a company with an incredible mission, where I specifically focuse on building a community around our work on issues faced by Women & Girls in the developing world. I’m also working on a long-term book research project exploring what news ought to be in the 21st century, why young people should consume it, and how. Contact me at jihiitea [at] gmail [dot] com.
